Slow Mindful Flow Yoga

Slow Mindful Flow classes offer a slow, mindful practice, matching movement to breath. Classes build slowly, enabling us to connect to our breath, and checking in with what we need from our practice in that moment. Sequences are offered at a pace that provides a sense of fluidity, whilst allowing time for correct alignment. Variations are offered so that the classes are open to people of all levels -  from beginners to more experienced practitioners.  Classes combine elements of mindfulness, pranayama (breath-work), postures (both flowing and held), meditation and relaxation.

Beginners or Level 1 classes are the same but provide a little more time and space to explore the foundations, however all are welcome to them.

Flow & Restore

This class combines flowing movement with restorative rest. We begin with a steady, breath-led, moving practice to open the body and ease tension. In the latter part of the class we reach for bolsters and blankets to soak up stillness and deep relaxation through restorative yoga. All props are provided by the studio so just come as you are. Open to all levels.

Yoga for Calm

This class focuses on calming our nervous systems. If you feel the need for creating a moment to pause and reset in the middle of your day we will take time at the start to meet ourselves with a mindful, compassionate awareness checking in with how we feel. We will then tune into our breath and explore simple breathing techniques that can support a sense of calm both on and off the mat. We will move slowly and steady, often with quite simple movements but in ways that enables us to be present to sensation, steady with our breath and feel more grounded and spacious. Once the body feels greater ease will take time to drop into the stillness to enable rest and release. My intention is that you leave feeling more grounded, open, resourced, and steady to meet the world outside.

Gentle Therapeutic Yoga

This gentle, soothing practice will provide the opportunity to gently unwind your body and calm your mind. Come with pillows, blankets, eye bags and whatever you can find to feel warm and comfortable. We begin by mindfully connecting to our breath before combining gentle, mindful movement to unwind and create ease. We soak up deep rest with a guided relaxation so that you can bring greater rest and relaxation into your evening ahead.

Yin Yoga

Eastern traditions recognise that true wellbeing comes from balancing the opposing energies of yin (calm / cooling) & yang (dynamic / fiery). Modern living however, which often promotes striving and achieving over resting and reflecting, can often make this hard to achieve in everyday life.

Yin Yoga is a beautiful practice that invites us to address this need for balance by dropping into the quieter more restful energies sometimes lacking in our lives. In this largely floor-based practice, we use props to support the body for prolonged periods of time (between 3-6 minutes) so that it can soften and release without strain. Within the stillness we have the opportunity to witness and open to our inner experience in a patient, accepting and compassionate way.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a beautiful practice which supports deep, conscious relaxation. In this floor-based practice poses are held for prolonged periods using the support of props (such as bolsters and blankets). In this way the body gently opens and softens but through support rather than seeking an active stretch. As we allow ourselves to lean into and feel held by the props, physical tensions release and our nervous system calms offering conditions for deep rest.

"As a newbie I’ve found other yoga classes quite intimidating, however Anna’s classes are just wonderful. She’s so warm and friendly and I feel so welcome in the classes. It is the highlight of my week. I leave feeling so uplifted, relaxed and so much stronger in my body."
