Workplace Wellbeing

“Anna's sessions reach a wide audience of both sceptics and the converted. I would highly recommend Anna for workplace wellbeing sessions.

Anna is a compassionate speaker and presenter, with warmth, knowledge, science and practical exercises to put everything learnt into practice.”

Blair Wright, HR Director, Fox Williams LLP

Workplace wellbeing sessions provide a valuable means to support the mental and physical wellbeing of your staff.  As well as having a workforce that is happier and healthier, yoga and mindfulness can help increased focus and concentration, productivity and creativity, as well as lowering absenteeism due to stress and illness.

I work with companies in a variety of ways whether it be through:

  • weekly classes

  • practical workshops to tie in with Mental Health Awareness Week or National Stress Awareness Day

  • as part of workplace wellbeing events or staff away days

Sessions can be delivered in person or live online.

Some of the themes that I have covered previously include:

Mindfulness for stress reduction

Evidence continues to support the benefits of mindfulness in lowering stress, increasing resilience, improving focus and concentration as well as learning to savour life's joys more - something that we can all do with in our busy lives. This session explores what happens physiologically when we get stressed and how mindful meditation can help us to reduce its impact and support greater wellbeing. Together we practice a simple mindfulness practice that participants can bring into their daily life.

Relaxation techniques

Life inevitably throws challenges and stresses. Learning tools to find calm amidst them can be invaluable. This practical session takes participants through a range of relaxation tools from simple breathing techniques that can be taken at the office on the move, to longer guided relaxations that can be taken at home. Participants leave equipped with a range of tools that allow their body to unwind, their mind to calm and ultimately them to access the deep rest that we need to be productive and healthy.

Friend or Foe: how cultivating self-compassion can support our wellbeing and resilience

Whilst many of us would consider ourselves kind, caring people, we often find that when life gets challenging our inner dialogue towards ourselves is less supportive and encouraging and more harsh and critical. For many of us this internal 'inner critic' has become such an automatic internal dialogue that we don't even question whether it is valid or helpful. Sometimes we might think that without this harsh, critical voice we wouldn't get anything done but all the research points in the opposite. It shows that through learning to cultivate self-compassion we become more resilient (able to learn from our mistakes rather than be flawed by them), less stressed (able to self-soothe and calm ourselves down) and happier (holding life in more perspective). This session explores what self-compassion is and simple tools that we can incorporate into our daily lives.

Savouring the good

Have you ever felt that you are a bit of a glass half empty person? Are you prone to noticing what you have done wrong / don't have, rather than what you've done right / do have? It can be helpful to understand that our brains are hard-wired to notice what is negative in life.  From an evolutionary / survival point of view it makes sense; negative experiences are perceived by our brains as a threat and therefore we must remember them to stay safe and alive. This can lead to us having a negatively skewed view of ourselves, our achievements, our relationships and our lives. This session will enable participants to understand our inherent negativity bias and learn simple tools to counteract it, acknowledge our competencies and ultimately have a more balanced and positive outlook on our lives.

Mindful Movement / Desk Yoga

When life gets busy and stressful, we can get so caught up with the busyness of our minds that we lose connection with our bodies and the messages that it is giving us.  This session explores the impact that stress can have on our body and how mindful movement can reconnect us to our bodies, ease muscular tension and promote better health and wellbeing. Together we take a simple desk-yoga practice that clients can use within their day at work.
